Overall it is pretty good, but when comes chapter 20, the clichés and flaws present from the start begin to be more apparent:
-The MC is plain, or meant to be plain, because she has to be average, as in pretty much any work that is remotely japanese.
– But for some reason, make up changes everything. Make up makes the plain MC a secret beauty that only one guy can recongnize.
– The MC is the obsessional kind. As most MCs in japanese works, he/she is very good at ONE thing, and pretty incompetent at anything else, just for trope’s sake, because it serves no purpose for the story.
– If a shojo, there is a magnificent guy around, with almost womanly features (otherwise known as a bishônen, since japanese women seem to prefect ‘cute androgynous guys’ over manly ones). Here, the eunuch excuse seems way too perfect to make this one trope into a plot point.
– The guy takes a liking to the plain-looking MC for she is weird and is the only one who doesn’t immediately falls head over heels for him. For some reason, bishônen have a very masochist side.
– The MC can’t get a clue about that, for he/she is merely obsessed with one thing at all times, and work extremely hard to misunderstand anything that can make the plot progress.
– If a shojo, the MC is persecuted by other girls because she got to be ‘close’ to the bishô. She is the only one who can’t see what is so great about it, and think that it is more of a pain than anything. While all women have to be completely obsessed by random-cocky-ass-sama, making them look as potential slaves to the oh-so-great androgynous bishô.
– Whenever the MC is shown doing something that is not tied to his/her obsession, the authors will always feel the absolute need to explain at lenghts and clearly (the ‘clearly’ part is rare for japanese, since they love to avoid telling things clearly) how he/she is average/below average at it, again, just for the sake of it. Probably because standing out by being good is terrible, while being average is just the best way to live a happy life as a clone.
This manga peppers this with otherwise pretty interesting aspects and ideas. But these tropes, if not adressed fast (and i don’t believe they will be adressed) will, at long last, turn the whole work into yet-another-story-about-a-girl, and will be forgettable for whoever read/watched/knows about a few dozens of these.

“or meant to be plain”
– yes, you got it.
“because she has to be average, as in pretty much any work that is remotely japanese”
– uh not really, there are a lot of OP (Over Powered) or good looking MC, but even if it was the case, is that so bad tho ? Or perhaps you wanted a perfect top model MC overly talented… hey dude… in real life, sometime the mother nature can be rude with some people.
“The MC is the obsessional kind. As most MCs in japanese works”
– it’s normal to be obsessional when you have an ambition or a hobby. If the hero had no interest in anything, what would be his/her purpose in the story ? just sit there and look at a wall ?
“he/she is very good at ONE thing, and pretty incompetent at anything else”
– Are you good at everything ? Especially in a era of 50% of illiterate people and who lack of proper education, it’s kind of normal, don’t you think ?
“to misunderstand anything that can make the plot progress”
– even the action of “misundertsanding” can trigger the plot to progress. It’s also her trait of the personality.
You know, i don’t know why you are so upset or frustrated for, you looks like a random guy who is grumpy and complain about everything whatever if it’s good or bad or because it’s just not convenient to your standards. You generalize with “this and that a japanese thing” but it’s foolish when you know that there are hundred thousand of mangas with different styles and plots and it’s obvious that some manga will repeat a certain code of writing.
Hey ! You are yourself a big consumer of cliché nekketsu plot : DBZ, Naruto, One Piece, Black Clover, Fairy Tails, etc… People like it, even if it’s a cliché nekketsu, so why are you crying about shojo cliché style ? That’s hilarious dude.
If it’s not at your taste or your standards, just switch to another manga, there are plenty of them, in all your lifetime you won’t be able to read everything and may miss a gem, why are you sticking to 20chapters and still complain ? Move on, you are not a slave of the content.
