I think it’s because cultivators have very high pride. Not only in their background but always also in their own power. After losing to someone who is younger and less experienced than her then she surely would have taken a hit to her pride. I’m pretty sure the grudge was made when she lost the bet and she wants to kill him to make him feel the defeat she felt back then and get her face back
