Nah it’s an exaggerated trope for effect and lolz . Only really true for those that were supposed to be the Protagonist’s companions which he then snatched . For those yeah he slowed their progression , by “wasting” time catching and taming them . But the rest would not be alive , or gain the opportunities they did . Most of those gained huge stuff thanks to MC . Hell the biggest boost so far , have been for his former colleague , which had a lucky sponsorship encounter … and nothing to do with neither MC or the Protagonist
