For all those wondering, it wasn’t explained properly here, but the Snake God/Totem Beast has the ability to mark its prey and cast something like fear on it. It’s a Ruler-type beast which is above the likes of the ones they met during the previous expedition. When you’ve been marked, you would end up having this intense irrational fear of the beast from the core of your being and even see it in your dreams or hallucinate abt it which is why Mo Fan is now like that…
If he was marked by the snake as prey and that’s why he’s so terrified, than why is his teacher lying and saying it doesn’t eat humans and having him deal with the snake? Or did it only do that so he’d be too scared to attack it while it was shedding its skin and he was protecting it, but why would it even need to do that? How can a ruler class monster be so weakened that even someone like Mo Fan, who can’t even come close to taking on commander class monsters, threaten its life?
